Economy Working Group
Meeting Notes from April 10, 1999
Charge for the Economic Working Group: The charge for the Economic Working Group will be to examine important trends and forces in the economy. Six specific areas our group will research include projected funding, structure of the local and regional economy, projected demand for graduates in various fields, changes in the workplace which may lead to new knowledge, our role in economic development, and partnership possibilities with business and industry.
The Chairman of the Economic Working Group is Chip Condon from the School of Business and Economics. Chip has suggested that our group meet in May and begin to collect data during the summer with group meetings periodically during the summer. A date and location for our meeting will be communicated to all group members in the near future.
The Long Range Planning Committee requests that our group develop a concise, focused 2-5 page report that itemizes specific details summarizing the research by the Economic group by December, 1999. This report will assist the Long Range Planning Committee in preparing a report for the Board of Trustees in March 2000. The working group report should summarize implications for the College of Charleston based on our research on economic issues and provide recommendations.
