Process for the work of the LRPCC:

• Education of the committee concerning the task, the issues that must be addressed, and the resources available for the education of both the committee and the constituencies.

• The sub-committees assigned to the identified constituencies provide the opportunities for the various stakeholders to meet to discuss the long range options for the College.

• The sub-committees provide the stakeholders with the resources necessary to assure meaningful discussions on the resources and information relevant to a long range plan for the College.

• The sub-committees will report on the results of the discussions of the constituencies to the committee of the whole.

• The Long Range Planning Coordination Committee will write a coordinated report of its findings for the President and the Board of Trustees.

This will complete the first level of the planning process.

The single biggest challenge for this committee will be to facilitate these discussions in a way that does not reflect our own personal opinions or biases or appear to be steering the constituency groups towards or way from any particular vision or scenario for the college. And yet it is vitally important that we as a committee facilitate thoughtful analysis by the constituents and not merely opinions that do not consider the consequences of those opinions.

The above process constitutes the First Level of Strategic Planning and will take one year to complete.

Level Two is the College-Wide Planning Process which will take approximately 8 months to one year.

Level Three is the Departmental Strategic Planning to support the Institutional Plan. This process will take approximately 6 months to one year.
