What is Peer Counseling?
Peer Counseling is a service for College of Charleston students offered by College of Charleston students. The program is supported by CofC’s Counseling and Substance Abuse Services and other CofC faculty and staff. Peer Counselors provide therapeutic listening, help with decision making, and referrals for various local services and activities. All of this is offered in a confidential, non-judgment environment.

Is Peer Counseling confidential?
YES. All information is held in the strictest of confidence.
Are there any costs?
No. Peer counselors are volunteers and the service is free to College of Charleston students.
How do I know that I will feel comfortable talking to a Peer Counselor?
We know that some people have difficulty reaching out for help.
Many people find that it is more comfortable to talk to a peer rather than a professional.
For safety reasons we have two peer counselors on hand at all times of operation. You can e-mail ahead
to make sure we can accommodate your preference for a male or female Peer Counselor.
Who are the Peer Counselors?
Peer Counseling is staffed by dedicated CofC sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students. Peer
Counselors go through rigorous application and training processes.
