Visiting Assistant Professor in Astronomy

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the College of Charleston has a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Astronomy available for the academic year 2008-2009. The salary is $32,000 with possibility for summer teaching. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in physics or astronomy and must be able to accept legal employment in the United States. The teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester in a combination of astronomy lectures and labs (some introductory physics lectures and labs are also possible). The department consists of twenty roster faculty (seven astronomers) Enrollment in introductory astronomy is approximately 400 students per year with lecture sizes of 48 and lab sizes of 24.
