Alem is interested in the acoustic and microscopic characterization of metals, alloys, composites, thermoelectrics, and nanocrystals. He uses Resonant Ultrasound Spectroscopy (RUS), Pulse-Echo (PE), FT-IR, SEM, Schlieren photography, and Bragg Imaging techniques for characterization and nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of these materials.
