Fellowships exist to promote research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Here are just a few examples of the many possibilities. The Goldwater Fellowship supports undergraduate students interested in the sciences and in mathematics. The U.S. Department of Energy sponsors undergraduate research on energy related issues. The Truman Scholarship supports undergraduate students who wish to attend graduate or professional school to prepare for careers in government, the non-profit sector or elsewhere in public service. The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation offers Fellowships to students interested in studying to become outstanding teachers of the American Constitution.
