Transfer Credits

The College's policy on transferring academic credits from other institutions is established by the faculty in each subject area. A Transfer Credit Evaluation of all previous course work will be sent with the acceptance letter from the Office of Admissions, and is also available on Cougar Trail . In general, transfer credit is awarded when the course is:

The maximum number of transfer credits acceptable towards a College of Charleston degree is 92 semester hours. 60 semester hours are the maximum from a two year school. We do not transfer grades, only credits; therefore, you will enter the College of Charleston without a grade-point ratio. For those students who transfer from the associate in arts or science programs at South Carolina public 2-year colleges, we have an agreement identifying transferable courses. Brochures are available at the Office of Admissions, or at SC 2-Year Colleges .

For questions regarding your transfer credit evaluation please contact the Office of Admissions if you are not yet a matriculated student (you are not currently enrolled in courses). Matriculated students should contact the Transfer Evaluation Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar.

A Student enrolled at the College of Charleston who wishes to  take courses at another institution must complete the Coursework Elsewhere form (PDF).

If your earned hours plus your enrolled hours are greater than 87, you must petition to take courses elsewhere. Please download and complete the Coursework Elsewhere During Senior Year Petition form and the Academic Plan.

Please see the "Forms Section" for the Decline AP Credit Request, Decline Transfer Credit Request and other forms.

For an updated list of your awarded and pending transfer credit, please see Cougar Trail under the "Transfer Credit Summary" heading.
