B.S. in Business Administration with Entrepreneurship Concentration

Are you someone who can see “the whole picture” and think creatively about problem solving? Are you willing to take calculated risks to improve the world around you? Do you envision a business venture that you could uniquely call your own? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then a Concentration in Entrepreneurship is where you need to be.

The Entrepreneurship Concentration gives students the opportunity to study the process of business creation while honing the skills needed for success. The goal is to provide an “insider’s” understanding of the entrepreneurial process and to help you think creatively across the business spectrum – as an accountant, marketer, financial operations manager, philanthropist or property developer.

Entrepreneurial graduates often create their own commercial or social ventures, depending on their individual interests. Or, they may become valuable associates in forward-thinking companies that, in order to be competitive in the global marketplace, seek innovative, creative thinkers and problem solvers.

Whether their ventures are for profit or not—and irrespective of the size of the enterprise— successful entrepreneurs must:

• Communicate effectively through written and verbal presentation skills;
• Employ quantitative and qualitative methods to solve problems;
• Analyze and evaluate market and competitive information;
• Be decisive with the ability to manage risk and adapt change.

These skills are taught through coursework, direct contact with leading researchers and professors and extracurricular experiences offered through the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).

The Concentration requires two core courses, Introduction to Entrepreneurship (ENTR 320) and New Venture Planning (ENTR 321), with additional electives available to complete the 18-hours of study. For more information on the requirements, click on Courses.

General Education Requirements: 50 hours.

Business Administration Major Requirements: 48 hours.
