Theatre Degree Requirements
Course Descriptions | CofC Course Listings

Theatre majors are offered courses of instruction in predefined tracks in addition to the core curriculum. The tracks include -

  • Performance Track (Acting & Directing)
  • Scenography I Track (Costume Design)
  • Scenography II Track (Stage Design/Technology)
  • Theatre for Youth track (Children's Theatre and Education)
  • General Track

Those majoring in Theatre must complete (1) the theatre core requirements, (2) the requirements of the track they chose, and (3) the general studies requirements of the College. The Theatre Department also offers minors in:

  • Theatre
  • Dance

Students may customize their degree to a great extent by taking additional coursework as free electives beyond the requirements of a given track. Free elective credits DO count toward graduation requirements.

We strongly encourage the acquisition of practical experience in actual theatre productions. Students who demonstrate merit are expected, according to their interests, to act, work backstage, do publicity and box office work, or execute designs for departmental productions.
