Advanced Biz Camp for Young Entrepreneurial Students

The College of Charleston has teamed up with Motley Rice LLC to offer the second YEScarolina Advanced Youth Entrepreneurship Camp for students. The "College of Charleston/Motley Rice Advanced Biz Camp" is a week-long residential summer program for the top ten selected youth entrepreneurs from across South Carolina. The students will attend the biz camp at the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship at the College of Charleston July 10-July 16, 2008 and will be guests of honor at the YEScarolina Awards Banquet on July 16, 2008.

Student Schedule

YEScarolina, a Program Partner of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), is a nonprofit organization created to offer South Carolina educators the opportunity to utilize curriculum written by acclaimed business teacher Steve Mariotti, founder of NFTE. YEScarolina was recently named National Program Partner of the Year by the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Through entrepreneurship education, YEScarolina helps young people from communities statewide build skills and unlock their entrepreneurial creativity. From 2003 to 2008, YEScarolina has trained 380 NFTE Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers that have in turn touched thousands of young South Carolinians with this wonderful and innovative entrepreneurship curriculum. The College Of Charleston/ Motley Rice program will be taught by one of these Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers, Lancie Affonso.

Time:  July 14th 12 PM to 4 PM; July 15-17 8:30 AM to 4 PM

SC Public school teachers will attend a four day training session in entrepreneurship. YEScarolina, a local non-profit organization offers the training at no cost for teachers. The  curriculum was created by Steve Mariotti, the founder of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship is designed for students 6th-12th grade. Teachers learn about starting and operating a business and they teach their students. Teachers with diverse backgrounds and credentials are in the class. The College of Charleston offers graduate credit for those who are interested. Teachers are "certified" by the state of South carolina after completion of the YEScarolina Training session.

Date: July 15-17, 2008  (Session only for existing CET’s)
Event: Adv Teacher Training for Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers
Location: College of Charleston - Tate Center, Room 207

This course is for teachers who have already participated in the initial four day training session. These teachers will take their training to a higher level with instruction from the College of Charleston's Dr. John Clarkin and Dr. Dave Hansen. Teachers will get the opportunity to learn more about finance and marketing. A day of  Information Technology will be incorporated into their agendas with Lancie Affonso meshing the worlds of business and education and software.
