Workshop with Mark Guzdial

Media computation is a new approach to teaching introductory computing in a context that was designed for the goal of being motivating, engaging, and relevant for non-computing students.  The focus is on using computation for communication tasks rather than calculations. Students learn computing by computing the negative of an image, creating echoes in a sound, automatically scraping information out of Web pages, and implementing digital video special effects. In this workshop, participants will see some of this approach and get the chance to try it out themselves.

Please bring a laptop, and software will be provided on CD.
