Dr. Thomas specializes in sixteenth and seventeenth century British literature, with an emphasis on drama. While she is most pleased to be teaching Shakespeare at the College, she also is a great supporter of other Renaissance playwrights, such as Thomas Middleton, John Fletcher, and Christopher Marlowe. Most often, her classes and scholarly work employ the frameworks of social and cultural historicism, as well as gender and sexuality studies. Her current research project on poisoning and tyranny is part of a larger book-length study of the political and literary import of poisoning in the Renaissance.
