Welcome to my Home Page and thanks for stopping by.

I am a Professor in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the  College of  Charleston.  My primary research interests are in economic sociology, work, organizations, and labor markets, and social stratification -- especially organizational processes that sustain and/or diminish gender inequality.  My recent publications examine supervisor-employee relationships and how they affect the integration of work and family life. I am also interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning as it relates to the use of technology and collaboration in the sociology curriculum.  My Curriculum Vitae lists my publications, presentations at professional meetings, and other professional activitiesI teach courses in the sociology of organizations, social entrepreneurship, the development of social thought, social stratification, gender and society, research methods, work, cyberspace, and introduction to sociology.  I also participate in the Women's & Gender Studies program and sometimes teach Introduction to Women's Studies in Maymester.  Below you will find links to the courses I'm teaching this semester.  Each course page also includes links to relevant Web sites.

As you may have noticed from the lighthouses, I am a beach person. Help save the Morris Island Lighthouse. For my students, here's the Folly surfcam --at least check the waves before you decide to skip class!
